Boston Uncommon has returned for its second volume to continue covering Boston-based drag, queer nightlife, and LGBTQ+ current events. Featuring original writing and reporting by Emerson College student and drag artist Joni 66, Boston Uncommon engages authentically with those who work and play within the city’s queer spaces and reports on issues that directly impact local and greater New England LGBTQ+ communities.

STAY ON TOP OF THIS: GayBash’d cancels New Year’s Eve show and teases Spring events
Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, GayBash’d Boston has canceled their New Year’s Event event, originally to be headlined by Cupcakke and Dragula’s Sigourney Beaver and Saint.
“The decision to cancel catapults our artist-ran business into debt, as we took the risk of investing a lot into New Year’s Eve,” GayBash’d’s Dec. 28 statement reads, “but this particular event is simply too large in attendance to be held safely.”
Refunds will be issued to all ticket holders and those interested in making a donation to the local queer artists hired for the event can email info@gaybashdboston.com
Along with their cancellation, GayBash’d teased their June 10 pride celebration— a drag and music festival at Roadrunner, a new venue slated to open in Allston in Spring 2022. Those who purchased New Year’s tickets will have first access to GayBash’d Pride tickets.
SHOW SPOTLIGHT: Boston Drag Gauntlet announces Cycle 5— Newcomers vs Veterans
Fresh off of their Cycle 4 Finale and the crowning of Rusty Hammer, Boston Drag Gauntlet has announced their next Cycle— Newcomers vs Veterans— with performer applications due tomorrow.
In what’s said to be the Gauntlet’s biggest Cycle yet, competitors will perform in eight live, competition-style shows for the chance to win a grand prize of $2500 and the Gauntlet Glove and Crown. Additionally, challenge winners receive cash prizes and all performers are paid a stipend per show.
If you think you have what it takes, apply here! Cycle 5 is coming to Legacy Nightclub on March 1, every other Tuesday at 8 p.m.
