Boston Uncommon has returned for its second volume to continue covering Boston-based drag, queer nightlife, and LGBTQ+ current events. Featuring original writing and reporting by Emerson College student and drag artist Joni 66, Boston Uncommon engages authentically with those who work and play within the city’s queer spaces and reports on issues that directly impact local and greater New England LGBTQ+ communities.

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT: Boston GLASS honors Bisexual Health Awareness Month
Working alongside the Bisexual Resource Center, Boston GLASS is commemorating Bisexual Health Awareness Month, sharing information and resources centering around queer wellness throughout the month of March
“This year's theme is connection - the importance of connecting bisexual people to each other, supportive communities, and healthcare that affirms their identities,” the Boston GLASS Instagram reads.

You can commemorate Bisexual Health Awareness Month by checking out the Visibility Impact Fund, an organization dedicated to empowering bisexual people and improving the visibility, health, and well-being of bi+ communities. Donations to the fund will support bi+ organizations, increase access to training and education, and empower bi+ activists.
For more information and resources on bisexual health, check out the Bisexual Resource Center’s page on sexual health tips and best pest practices for providers.
WHAT IS BOSTON DRAG?: Bella Luna— the Indigenous, Latina, Brazilian drag queen Barbie
Through my reporting on Boston queer nightlife, I have noticed a general lack of coverage on local drag scenes and the performers that define queer New England. “What is Boston Drag?” is a space for local performers and community members to explore their regional culture and local talent.
_____
From her bedroom to Boston Drag Gauntlet, Bella Luna is New England’s own Indigenous, Latina, Brazilian drag queen Barbie. After dabbling in drag at a young age, distancing herself from the religious environment she grew up in, Bella dove headfirst into the art form during the 2020 quarantine. Since, Bella has performed across Boston, currently competing as a Newcomer in Boston Drag Gauntlet Cycle 5: “Newcomers vs Veterans.” Carefully crafting her persona, Bella is hyperfocused on developing her own unique drag style and doing so within Boston’s queer, Latinx community.
